Once serving in the upper chamber, she supported legislation to implement a <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/205478-gop-senators-demand-vote-on-banning-abortions-after-20-weeks\/?mc_cid=cba695c051&amp;mc_eid=f46a213791\">national 20-week abortion ban<\/a> with exceptions for rape and incest, or to save the life of the pregnant parent \u2014 though just a handful of weeks shorter than New Hampshire\u2019s cutoff, many severe fetal abnormalities incompatible with life are diagnosed between 18 and 22 weeks. She <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1122\/vote_112_2_00024.htm?congress=112&amp;session=2&amp;vote=00024\">also supported<\/a> a failed Republican amendment to a highway bill that would have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/national\/health-science\/birth-control-exemption-bill-the-blunt-amendment-killed-in-senate\/2012\/03\/01\/gIQA4tXjkR_story.html\">dramatically expanded exceptions to the contraception mandate<\/a> in the Affordable Care Act, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/112th-congress\/senate-bill\/1467\/cosponsors\">co-sponsored stand-alone legislation<\/a> that would have done the same.
