At a hearing of the Senate Health Committee he chairs, Cassidy said Kennedy should have withdrawn policies adopted under President Joe Biden that allowed people seeking to end their pregnancies to get pills prescribed by telehealth and have them shipped through the mail. That has made it easier for people to have abortions in states, like Louisiana, that have banned the procedure following the Supreme Court’s 2022 ruling ending the constitutional right to abortion.
